RESEARCH EXPERIENCE 
 

B.Sc. Final Year Electrical Engineering Project:  Supervisor: Masood Ahmad (Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, UET Lahore, Pakistan)	WAVELET Based Audio & Image Compression System   Study and development of compression systems based on Wavelet (Octave-Band) decomposition of Audio signals and Images. Developed a C++ library to help implement Generic M-Channel Filter Banks for subband coding of images. Comparison with current Image Compression standards like JPEG which is based on the DCT. Our Image Compression scheme was better (in terms of PSNR & perceptual quality) than JPEG at virtually all bit rates. Our Wavelet Based Audio coder was implemented in real-time using Motorola's DSP56002 EVM. The coder+decoder runs at less than 10 MIPS and at a compression ratio of x4, the quality is acceptable.
Publication	Use of Fast Wavelet Transform for Signal Compression, Masood Ahmad, Hamid Rahim Sheikh, Aamir Munir, (IEEE National Multi-topic Conference) INMIC98, LUMS, Lahore Pakistan, November 20-22.
Digital Signal Processing	Hardware Implementation of FIR & IIR Digital Filters on the Motorola’s DSP56002 Digital Signal Processor. Wrote software for Automatic Assembly Code Generation from analogue design parameters. Modification of the above code to allow implementation of Generic IIR Transfer Functions in Cascaded Canonic & Transposed Form. C++ code helps implementation of any stable transfer function (s- or z- domain). Audio Range Digital Sine-wave Oscillator.
